Victorias Secret Fashion Show 2010 NYC!!!

Ok, so the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show just aired Tuesday night and it was AMAZING!!  Another motivation to hit the gym :)  I have to be quite honest though, I have struggled to stay on task over the last week.  In school we have had over 8 assignments due and I have been working EVEY weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights).  Finding the time to sit down and make a healthy meal or go for a quick run, has been almost impossible.

That being said, nothing is impossible and I am merely making excuses... haha..  Yesterday, I made a trip to the Victoria's Secret store at Lakeside.  The mall was dead except for Victoria's Secret.  The lineup was out the door.  So, Robyn and I ventured in, in hopes to see some crazy deals.  Instead, everyone was going crazy over the Victoria Secret Fashion Show tanks that you receive for free with a $60 purchase.  Isn't it crazy how much media influences our spending habits?  Of course, Robyn and I made sure to spend AT LEAST $60 so that we could receive our free tank top. :)

So today I decided to wake and make myself protein pancakes that are low in fat and high in protein.  They are delicious, healthy and a great start to my day.  I would suggest giving these a try.  They sound odd, but trust me, they are delicious:

  • 1 small container (1/2 cup) Egg Beaters
  • 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup dry oatmeal (not instant, but the quick-cook kind)
  • 1 packet non-nutritive sweetener (I used Sweet-n-Low)
  • sprinkling of cinnamon
  • nonstick cooking spray

As soon as I am finished with this post, I will be doing a "workout of the day" from the crossfit.ca website.  The workout today is called the 12 Days of Christmas.  I have done this one before and it is quite challenging but it targets all areas and you will feel great after accomplishing it.  If you are unsure on what the workout is, youtube it and it will show you exactly how it is to be done.  Also, use the weight that you are most comfortable with.

Workout: "The 12 Days of Christmas"

1 Burpee
2 Turkish getups (20lbs/35lbs)
3 Cleans (85 lbs/135 lbs)
4 Box Jumps (20 inch box)
5 Push-ups
6 Air squats
7 Sit-ups
8 Wallballs (12lbs/20lbs)
9 Double unders
10 KB swings (red/black)
11 Pull-ups
12 Mountain climbers

The following video is Katy Perry performing Firework at the VS Fashion Show.  This would be a great song to add to your workout playlist.

Have a great day!!  Next post, I will find some VS model's workouts and eating habits... until then.. WORK HARD AND EAT SMART!! :)

The journey begins...

I decided to start this blog with the intention that if people actually started following it, I would have to stay on track and start showing results.  Last month I printed out a picture of Marisa Miller (see below).  I taped this picture to my mirror and started running.  But as the weeks went on, the busier I got and the less I ran.  I was even finding it hard to eat healthy. Instead of eating nutritious meals, I was eating quick and unhealthy snacks on the go.

So tomorrow will be a start to the new me.  The plan is to run at least 3 times a week, go to the gym 2-3 times a week and to grocery shop each week only buying nutritious meals and snacks.  I will blog as much as possible, filling you in on my workouts, meals, and any hints I pick up on the way.

Each week I will post a new picture of a Victoria Secret model.  These pictures will help me, and hopefully anyone who follows this blog, stay on track!!

Wish me luck!!
